Dr. Klein serves as co-executive director of the Center for Spirituality & Leadership at Marian University. She is also chair of the Department of Languages, Letters and Communication and program coördinator for Communication and Values-based Leadership. Dr. Klein is a veteran teacher and full professor. She regularly teaches courses in leadership, organizational behavior, small group process, organizational development and change, and intercultural communication.  Her line of research involves the best practices of leading effective volunteer organizations.

Dr. Klein began teaching public speaking and social studies in 1976 to high school students in southwest Wisconsin. She was the 1999–2000 recipient of the Underkofler Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching Award. Outside Marian University, Dr. Klein is an active volunteer having served as president of the Board of Directors of the Lakeshore Chorale, a member of two site-based management teams for the Sheboygan Area School District, and in various lay ministries for Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Community.

In her spare time, Dr. Klein promotes wild bird habitat, and enjoys knitting and cooking. She and her husband have three grown children. She resides in rural Cleveland, Wisconsin.

Marilyn J. Bugenhagen, Ph.D.

 

Ph.D. in Leadership Studies & Human Science from University of Nebraska

MA in Administrative Leadership from Ball State University

BSE in Elementary and Music Education from University of Wisconsin – Whitewater

 

Dr. Bugenhagen serves as co-executive director of the Center for Spirituality & Leadership at Marian University.  She serves as an assistant professor of leadership studies on the faculty in the doctoral studies program at Marian University doctoral program.  In addition to teaching in the Ph.D. program, she serves as academic adviser to doctoral students in the leadership studies strand and directs dissertation committees.  Marilyn has been teaching leadership and organization behavior in both formal and informal settings for over 20 years.  She has held director positions of both profit and non-profit departments in higher education.  Most recently she has taught for UW-Milwaukee Lubar School of Business and Marquette University College of Professional Studies.

 

Particular interests are in leader development, leadership behaviors, organizational development, higher education student services, authenticity, servant leadership and adult development & learning.  Service activities including serving on the board of directors of a non-profit arts organization in Milwaukee, consulting for non-profit and community organizations, and serves as a national lead facilitator for LeaderShape, Inc.
